We all know that baggy pants are a thing of the past. Why have a place to easily store all your stuff when your need to show off your thighs to complete strangers is far more important?
It's kind of ironic then that things you would normally keep around your
person, such as your phone, are growing to be the size of a mini-burrito. Luckily,
Apacer has seen the folly of these design choices and has decided to make its
newest portable SSD as small as the breathing space in those tight chinos of
The ASMini, as the SSD is called, measures 8.1 cm x 5.4 cm with a thickness of 0.6 cm, making it about the size of those name cards your teachers forced you to wear so that they would remember your name (which they most likely didn't).
If you think that its small size means that it will break just as easily as a Kit Kat, you would be wrong. Just like those fatter SSDs, the ASMini can stand up to 20G of vibration and 1,500G of shock force, meaning that as long as you don't accidentally leave it in the back pocket of your pants and sit on it, the thing will be just fine.
The storage device can hold up to 240GB in memory, making it a good medium between a flash drive and a bigger HDD. It isn't meant to hold your gigantic collection of movies, anime, and pornography; but if you're looking for something that can hold all your work files, then this will prove more than adequate.
Apacer fitted the ASMini with a USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C port (so it has a read/write capacity of up to 450/400 MB/s) but it also comes with a reversible plug and an adapter cable, making it durable and compatible with laptops that support Type-A ports. So if you're looking for something fast, discreet, and can fit into the smallest places, buy a switchblade. But if you're looking for a small storage device that is both sturdy and comes with a large storage capacity, then the ASMini will be available very soon.
