A new teaser trailer breathes new life to a tale as old as time. Beauty and the Beast will be a live-action re-telling of Disney's classic animated film, with the original musical score still intact.
And well, well, well. What do you know? Hermione Granger the witch is now Belle, the Disney princess! The trailer shows us a peek of Emma Watson's new role as the independent young woman who becomes a prisoner in Beast's castle. Will Watson pass the Disney Princess test with flying colors? We'll find out next year.
We also hear two voices in the film, talking about Belle's arrival. Those belong to Cogsworth and Lumiere of course, and they are voiced by Ian McKellen and Ewan McGregor respectively.
Most of the trailer contains castle scenery. Watch again and you'll notice that the scenes in the castle are actually a time lapse. From its splendor to its deteriorated state. It's funny to note that the castle kind of looks like Hogwarts, don't you agree? Beast himself doesn't appear in this teaser, but we know he will played by Dan Stevens, of Downtown Abbey fame.
Beauty and the Beast is directed by Bill Condon, best known for his works on Chicago, Gods and Monsters, and Twilight: Breaking Dawn 1 and 2. The film will premiere in the U.S. on March 17, 2017.
