Berserk Berserk and the Band of the Hawk Dynasty Warriors Griffith Guts Koei Tecmo Samurai Warriors

Have you ever played any iteration of Koei Tecmo's Dynasty Warriors or Samurai Warriors? If you have, then you are familiar with the many playable characters as well as the "one against thousands" playstyle which the Warriors franchise is known for.

I remember playing the early Dynasty Warriors games when I was younger. I spent hundreds of hours playing the campaign (or Musou mode) with each of the available characters. The gameplay was tons of fun; you literally had to slash your way through a huge number of identical-looking soldiers who scream laughable cries upon their deaths.

And who could forget that terrible voice acting? Although the Warriors games feature some of the coolest historical figures in Japan and China, you could never take them seriously because of the poorly cast voice actors. Dynasty Warriors 3 in particular had some of the worst voice acting I've ever heard and for some reason, this has remained a staple in the series throughout the years.

In an attempt to liven up the gameplay with a new coat of paint, the company has spawned another game called Berserk and the Band of the Hawk. It plays like any Warriors game, except that it features characters from the hit manga series Berserk.

For those who don't know it, Berserk is a dark fantasy series that stars a lone mercenary named Guts, and Griffith, a leader of a mercenary group called the Band of the Hawk.

Fans of either series will be in for a much more gruesome experience, as the game uses the powers of these iconic characters to slash and smash through hordes of enemies.

Anyone who has played the Warriors games will see the difference in gameplay. Each character plays differently and possesses unique special abilities. For example, Guts can unleash devastating blows with his Dragonslayer Great Sword but since his weapon is massive, his movement suffers.

Apart from that, players will also be treated to new battle mechanics such as Magic and Transformations. There's also an Endless Eclipse Mode, which is basically a mode that tests how long you can last against an infinite number of enemies.

Berserk and the Band of Hawk is now available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and PC via Steam.
