Essen Spiel in Germany is known to be one of the biggest board game exhibitions in the world, drawing thousands of board game enthusiasts from all across the globe every year. The four-day event has seen the debut of many popular board games, including cyberpunk card game Megacorp.
Megacorp is the first trading card game produced by a whole team of Southeast Asians. After its first appearance at last year's Essen Spiel, the card game gained enough popularity that is it now being distributed to more than 15 countries, including the Philippines.
The game puts players in a richly designed cyberpunk world that features factions of transhumanists, psychic prophets, and citizens with advanced technology. The goal of the game is to set up businesses and dominate the economy. You do this by devising strategies to destroy, buy out, or isolate your opponent's businesses. Megacorp can be played by up to 9 players.
If you're rich enough to book a ticket to Europe, you should know that this year's Essen Spiel will take place from October 26 to 29. For the rest of us in the Philippines who want to try Megacorp, you can get it at Ludus Distributors and Neutral Grounds. It will also be featured at the upcoming ESGS event.
