Video games have had us running from things for ages.
Large boulders. Zombies. Your responsibilities as an adult. So many titles have had us using our virtual leg muscles to escape capture from a variety of things, yet not many have had us hiding from an actual human being.
Remothered: Tormented Fathers is a psychological survival horror
game developed by Darril Arts and Stormind Games. It is the first title of the Remothered trilogy and it has just been Greenlit
You play as Rosemary Reed, a 35-year old woman who is currently investigating the whereabouts of a missing girl named Celeste. She visits the house of a girl's father, Dr. Richard Felton, who is affected by a mysterious disease. This old man seems harmless at first but you'll later on discover that Dr. Felton actually uses hypnosis and drugs to 'cure' his disease and forget his dreadful past.
Speaking of the past, Rosemary's investigations lead her to believe that there is a sinister reason behind the girl's disappearance, and it apparently involves a cult of creepy nuns in red clothing.
developers have recently released some gameplay footage and although said scary
nuns haven't made an appearance, it still is damn freaky!
Never has being chased by an old man been this horrifying! As you can tell from the video, Remothered: Tormented Fathers does away with weapons, meaning that your best option when faced with an enemy is to run and hide. The crazy old Dr. Felton is not the only enemy you'll be eluding, since other enemies have yet to be revealed. The game does say that the villains here are total psychopaths and they will stalk you until you piss your undies dry.Ã Doesn't that remind you of a certain deranged family from Louisiana in a recent Capcom game?
Other notable features of the game include the ability to learn new skills, no loading screens, movie-like cutscenes, a soundtrack composed by Nobuka Toda (Final Fantasy, Halo, Metal Gear Solid) and of course, the puzzles. What game is without its puzzles? Other than that, not much else has been revealed.
The game looks great and seems to be a horror adventure grounded in realism. Sure, paranormal entities will give you the heebie-jeebies and grotesque monsters will send you screaming until your eyeballs pop out, but there is no villain more terrifying than an actual human being.
Remothered: Tormented Fathers will be available on Steam and PlayStation 4 soon.Ã
