For this week's Sundae, we'll give you a taste of the works by Iana Forbes. She's a 23-year-old graphic designer and event onsite photographer who creates beautiful watercolor portraits on her free time.
Her earliest memory of making art was at 5 years old when she joined her first art contest back in her hometown. During lectures in her elementary days, she would create random doodles on her notepad to help her concentrate and understand the lessons better.
Her first real fan art came with Harry Potter when she turned 10. Based on the franchise, she created her own Marauders Map, carved herself a wand, and made countless drawings of Hogwarts. However, the first portrait she ever made was of Arwen from The Lord of the Rings.
Iana loves painting people. To her, every face is unique as it offers a new flavor for her artworks.
Her art can be described as loose watercolor portraits with intricate elements for contrast. She is still developing her own unique style, which is why she is exploring the possibilities that different art mediums offer. Her comfort zone is watercolor but she uses graphite and oil from time to time.
For inspiration, she looks to her brother Romeo Forbes Jr., who is a passionate painter. Iana shared that her sibling would go on for hours just painting, lost in his own world. Besides him, she also is inspired by the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo.Take a peek at some of her pretty watercolor portraits of characters from Suicide Squad, Stranger Things, and more of your favorite geeky franchises!
