In the hopes of promoting a cashless lifestyle in the Philippines, Globe Telecom, Ayala Corporation, and Ant Financial have joined together to bring the scan to pay feature on the GCash app.
Use the scan to pay feature on the GCash app to pay for goods and services.
GCash QR code at Timezone
With GCash, customers can pay for goods and services by scanning a QR code displayed on cashier counters. If you worry about not having enough cash on-hand, this is a convenient alternative. Users can add credits at GCash kiosks, Globe stores, 7/11 branches, and other partner outlets.
The GCash payment system has already been adopted by various establishments in Glorietta including SSI Group, Bench Group, Bistro Group, and Max's Group, among others; as well as the Glorietta Cinemas, Timezone, and The Movie Snackbar. It can also be used in Mercato Centrale, Ibiza, and Kabisera.
The feature will soon roll out in Greenbelt, TriNoma, Alabang Town Center, Market! Market!, UP Town Center, Ayala Malls The 30th , Ayala Malls Vertis North, Ayala Malls South Park, and Ayala Center Cebu.
Mynt hopes to roll out the scan to pay feature to street vendors.
Regarding the future of cashless payments, President and CEO of Mynt, which operates GCash, has this to say, "With scan to pay, there will soon be a time when GCash can already be used to pay your neighborhood sari-sari store or even the balut or ice cream vendor just by scanning the QR code sticker of the vendor. It has been done in other places and we're also doing it here."
To celebrate cashless shopping, GCash will offer promos and rebates in Glorietta stores on "GDay", November 11, 2017.
