Yesterday, a press event for the upcoming DOTA 2 Manila Masters was held. Taking place this weekend (May 26-28) at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, the event will feature one of the largest e-sports games and teams from around the world.
Being the number one country in the region where DOTA 2 is prominent, the Philippines is home to roughly over 30-40 million gamers. Because of this, channel TV5 will be airing the competition for free on May 28 from 6pm onwards. But for those of you lucky enough to grab tickets to the event, Filipino-speaking casters will also be in the arena to provide a play-by-play analysis of the matches. Other casters include those for Thailand, China and Indonesia, and of course the English casters.
But that's not everything fans will get to indulge in! Smart also announced that they will be giving out in-game items for titles like Dragon Knight, Aegis, and many more over the course of the event.
The attendees and fans all over the world will watch as Evil Geniuses, Team Secret, OG, Newbee, Clutch Gamers, Team Faceless, Invictus Gaming and Team NP will duke it out for the prize pool of 250,000 USD. The Philippines' very own Clutch Gamers team is training at a boot camp in Malaysia as we speak.
With stakes this high and more events to come after this one, the future of e-sports only seems to be getting brighter. Be sure to follow #manilamasters2017 and #smart to stay updated!
