A bunch of new images for World of Final Fantasy have been released by Square Enix. The screenshots show new environments, more familiar Final Fantasy characters and monsters.

In World of Final Fantasy, you follow the twins Reynn and Lann as they explore different Final Fantasy worlds and capture familiar beasts such as the cactuar and chocobo to discover alternate forms and learn new abilities. Here, you'll meet some of the characters from the previous Final Fantasy games like Quistis, Lightning and Tidus, who will all be in chibi form. The aim of the game is to welcome newcomers to the FF series and at the same time, serve as a nostalgia trip for long-time fans.

We picked out several screenshots to feature in this article. Check them out below.

Bahamut, one of the staple summons in Final Fantasy games, unleashing his signature attack, Megaflare.

Bismarck, the huge whale-like water Esper that first appeared in Final Fantasy VI, can be found lurking the deep seas in World of Final Fantasy.

Bartz Klauser, the protagonist of Final Fantasy V, and his faithful friend, Boco the Chocobo.

Reynn and Lann will eventually encounter Quacho Queen, a totally new character. She dwells in the Sunken Temple.

If there's one reason to play this game, it's this: a chibi Gilgamesh.

L-R: Terra Branford (Final Fantasy VI), Shelke (Dirge of Cerberus), Vivi (Final Fantasy IX), Edgar Roni Figaro (Final Fantasy VI).

Another confirmed Esper: Maduin, the guardian of the Esper World in Final Fantasy VI and also the father of Terra.
