Nintendo just announced that on July 28, they will be releasing the New Nintendo 2DS XL in
the U.S. for $149.99. That's about P7,500 but if you include taxes, expect it
to go up around P9,000 - P10,000. As
the name suggests, the New Nintendo 2DS XL is a bigger and improved version of
the previous 2DS model.
The new handheld system will have a turquoise/black color, as well as a screen size as big as that of the 3DS XL. It will also have built-in NFC for amiibo cards and figures. It can play games from the 3DS library and has the same performance as the 3DS XL. Also, unlike the previous 2DS model, you can fold the 2DS XL and tuck it in your pocket, just like the 3DS.
So what's the difference?
The 2DS XL can only display 2D games; unlike the 3DS XL, which has 3D features. The New Nintendo 3DS XL is also pricier, costing around $199; so you will be saving around $50 (or P2,000-3,000).To celebrate the launch of the New Nintendo 2DS XL, two new games will be released for the handheld console, namely Hey! PIKMIN and Miitopia.
