Ragnarok Online, the MMORPG responsible for 90s kids' sleepless hours and the business boost of many local internet cafes back in the 2000s, is returning! In honor of this, a Ragna Festival was held last Sunday at the SM North Edsa Annex. Thousands of fans converged to celebrate the rebirth of this well-loved game.
Apart from Ragnarok cosplayers and performances by bands Imago and Sandwich, representatives from the game's developer Gravity Co. Ltd and both regional and local publishers Electronics Extreme and Elite Global Sourcing Inc. respectively, also graced the event.
Gravity's CEO Kitamura Yoshinori shared that they took a break for 5 years to have a new start, and now they're ready to make a comeback in the Philippines. New content specific to Filipino users is also being developed alongside this rebirth, which will hopefully incite series veterans as well as newcomers to the 14-year-old MMORPG.
Ragnarok Online first launched in the Philippines back in 2003 and has accumulated over 10 million users since then. The game has recently enjoyed a "renaissance" period in Taiwan, Thailand, and Indonesia, so it was only a matter of time before the game returned to Philippine shores.
Since the relaunch date is yet to be announced, you can keep track of Ragnarok Online's updates through the game's official website and Facebook page. Until then, think about which class you're going to play this time around.
