Assassin's Creed Assassin's Creed Chronicles Ubisoft

Ubisoft recently announced the release dates of the final two episodes of the Assassin's Creed Chronicles trilogy. Episode 2: India and Episode 3: Russia will be available for download on January 13, 2016 and February 10, 2016 respectively, on Playstation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.

Assassin's Creed Chronicles, a 2.5D platformer game that features assassins from different civilizations and time periods throughout history, began with its first episode, China, last April of this year. It is mentioned that each episode will be unique not just in setting but also in art style and story.

Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India takes place in 1841, the time period right before the Anglo-Sikh Wars, when the Sikhs went head to head with the East India Company. History tells us that Maharajah Ranjit Singh's untimely death in 1839 set off the events that would lead to the downfall of the Sikh Empire. A series of revolts and assassinations took place, as factions within the Sikh fought for power. This left strained relations with the British Army, which eventually led to all-out war.

In the midst of these events, Arbaaz Mir, a Kashmiri assassin, finds himself in a conflict with the British Templars over a mysterious item that used to belong to the Assassin Order. What's interesting to note about Mir is that his lover happens to be the (fictional) granddaughter of Ranjit Singh.

The final episode, Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia, takes place in 1918 when Assassin Nikolaï Orelov must complete one last mission for the Assassin Order before he can leave with his family. As we all know, this is the time when the Bolsheviks infamously executed the Russian Imperial Romanov family. Many years later, after most of the family's remains were found, rumors surfaced that Anastasia Romanov, daughter of the tsar, managed to survive the shooting.

In this Chronicle, we are given a version of the story through Orelov's eyes. He was to infiltrate the house where the tsar's family is being held by the Bolsheviks and steal an artifact that has been fought over by Assassins and Templars for centuries. While too late to save the tsar's entire family, he manages to save the princess, Anastasia, whom he must protect as he escapes the Templars with her and the artifact in tow.

Both Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India and Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia will be available soon digitally for $9.99.
