After its successful first season at Shenzhen, China, The DOTA 2 tournament Galaxy Battles is hosting its next season here in the Philippines. Organizers Fallout Gaming and Purpose Win Entertainment intend for it to be the biggest DOTA 2 event yet - setting it in the Philippine Arena, Bulacan.
Regional invitational qualifiers and open qualifiers will start mid-November. These will determine which teams get the 8 slots reserved for 6 regions: China, South East Asia, Europe, Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), North America, and South America. Another 2 slots will be allocated for the New Blood Championships amateur tournament, to give lesser known eSports groups a chance to make it big.
Aside from this, eight teams will be given direct invites to the main event; four of which are OG, Newbee, Infamous Gaming, and TNC Pro Team.
The Galaxy Battles Major will occur from January 19 to 21, 2018 at the Philippine Arena. The event itself will be a festival of sorts consisting of 3 sections:
The Galaxy Battles Esports Arena - This arena which houses 60,000 butts at the same time is where the top 18 teams will duke it out for the $1,000,000 prize pool.
The Galaxy Battles DOTA 2 World - This area is where food and beverage zones, resting areas, and sponsors can be found.
The Galaxy Entertainment Arena - This is an open air stadium parallel to the Philippines Area which will host concert performances from international artists, regional artists and local artists.
Ticket prices have not been announced, but we'll update this article when they do.
