The first trailer of the live adaptation of manga series Tokyo Ghoul has just dropped! Although it doesn't give away much, it does showcase fan favorites like the human-ghoul hybrid protagonist Ken Kaneki, Touka Kirishima, and CCG (Commission of Counter Ghoul) First Class Ghoul Investigator Kureo Mado.

In Tokyo Ghoul, flesh-eating people called ghouls co-exist amongst humans while hiding their true nature. Although there are factions in the ghoul community that don't see eye to eye, they all find a common enemy in the Commission of Counter Ghoul (CCG), which specializes in the prosecution of ghouls.

Ken Kaneki, the protagonist, is a college student who finds himself thrust into the world of ghouls after an incident causes him to become half-ghoul.

Aside from this live-action movie, Tokyo Ghoul also has video game and anime adaptations. The anime series has already spawned two seasons since its pilot episode in 2014 but if you don't plan on watching it, you should at least listen to its awesome first season opening soundtrack. Fans are still waiting on the release of the third season, which has no definite launch date.

Tokyo Ghoul premieres in Japan this July 29.
