We're a wink away from this year's The Oscars and this is a list of my "will win", "should win" and everything else in-between.

Best Picture

Nominees: Arrival, Fences, Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, Hidden Figures, La La Land, Lion, Manchester by the Sea, Moonlight

Will win: La La Land

Should win: Arrival

Best Actor

Nominees: Casey Affleck (Manchester by the Sea), Andrew Garfield (Hacksaw Ridge), Ryan Gosling (La La Land), Viggo Mortensen (Captain Fantastic), Denzel Washington (Fences)

Will win: Casey Affleck

Should win: Casey Affleck

Who I want to win: Ryan Gosling

*On a side note, Denzel Washington is a legitimate threat to steal this one from Casey Affleck, so I won't be surprised if he wins this one.

Best Actress

Nominees: Isabelle Huppert (Elle), Ruth Negga (Loving), Natalie Portman (Jackie), Emma Stone (La La Land), Meryl Streep (Florence Foster Jenkins)

Will win: Emma Stone

Should win: Isabelle Huppert

*I'm still freakin' pissed that Amy Adams was snubbed for Arrival.

Best Supporting Actor

Nominees: Mahershala Ali (Moonlight), Jeff Bridges (Hell or High Water), Lucas Hedges (Manchester by the Sea), Dev Patel (Lion), Michael Shannon (Nocturnal Animals)

Will win: Mahershala Ali

Should win: Mahershala Ali

*I really hope Dev Patel doesn't steal this one; not because he doesn't deserve it (he was excellent in Lion), but because it still annoys the hell out of me that he's considered a "supporting actor" even though he was obviously the lead in the film!

Best Supporting Actress

Nominees: Viola Davis (Fences), Naomie Harris (Moonlight), Nicole Kidman (Lion), Octavia Spencer (Hidden Figures), Michelle Williams (Manchester by the Sea)

Will win: Viola Davis

Should win: Viola Davis

*No contest here!

Best Animated Feature

Nominees: Kubo and the Two Strings, Moana, My Life as a Zucchini, The Red Turtle, Zootopia

Will win: Zootopia

Should win: Kubo and the Two Strings

*Zootopia and Moana are the frontrunners in this category, and I wouldn't mind them both winning since they were both pretty good. (I like Moana more, though).

*When is Laika Entertainment going to get some love? Seriously, the people here do some of the best animation work in the world! What's it going to take for them to finally get their Oscar?

Best Cinematography

Nominees: Arrival, La La Land, Lion, Moonlight, Silence

Will win: La La Land

Should win: La La Land

Best Costume Design

Nominees: Allied, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Florence Foster Jenkins, Jackie, La La Land

Will win: La La Land

Should win: Err... Allied? As long as it's a film that is not La La Land

Who I want to win: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

*This is just so that the sequel of Fantastic Beasts can put an "Academy Award Winner" tag on its poster. That would be hilarious.

Best Director

Nominees: Denis Villeneuve (Arrival), Mel Gibson (Hacksaw Ridge), Damien Chazelle (La La Land), Kenneth Lonergan (Manchester by the Sea), Moonlight (Barry Jenkins)

Will win: Damien Chazelle

Should win: Damien Chazelle

*Barry Jenkins has a very long shot at upsetting Chazelle with his film Moonlight, but realistically Chazelle wins this for his work on La La Land and he deserves it. The man is spectacular.

Best Film Editing

Nominees: Arrival, Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, La La Land, Moonlight

Will win: La La Land

Should win: Arrival

*If you've seen Arrival, then you know it should definitely win this award. I wouldn't mind if Moonlight won though, since it was edited really well. But Arrival should win (even though I know it won't)!

Best Makeup and Hairstyling

Nominees: A Man Called Ove, Star Trek: Beyond, Suicide Squad

Should win: Star Trek: Beyond

*Enough said.  Any other argument is invalid, because If Suicide Squad wins this one, we riot!

Best Music (Original Score)

Nominees: Jackie, La La Land, Lion, Moonlight, Passengers

Will win: La La Land

Should win: Arrival

*Have you guys even heard the score for Arrival?! And Passengers? Seriously? This movie got a nomination?

Best Music (Original Song)

Nominees: "Audition (The Fools Who Deam)" from La La Land, "Can't Stop the Feeling" from Trolls, "City of Stars" from La La Land, "The Empty Chair" from Jim: The James Foley Story, "How Far I'll Go" from Moana

Will win: "City of Stars" (La La Land)

Should win: Well, admittedly "City of Stars" was pretty damn good.

Who I want to win: "How Far I'll Go" (Moana)

*I loved every song in Moana and I would pick any song in this movie over any song in La La Land.

*Two nominations for Best Song for La La Land? Really? Hey Academy, tell us how you really feel about La La Land. Jeez.

Best in Production Design

Nominees: Arrival, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Hail, Caesar!, La La Land, Passengers

Will win: La La Land

Should win: Hail Caesar

*Passengers and Fantastic Beasts get a nomination for this? I didn't think that green screens were more valued as production designs these days. Oh well, what do I know?

Best Animated Short

Nominees: Blind Vaysha, Borrowed Time, Pear Cider and Cigarettes, Pearl, Piper

Will win: Piper

Should win: Borrowed Time

*I wouldn't mind either of these two winning. Blind Vaysha could get the one too, considering it's a deep short that didn't come from a big studio.

Best in Sound Editing

Nominees: Arrival, Deepwater Horizon, Hacksaw Ridge, La La Land, Sully

Will win: La La Land

*Because I don't know anything about sound editing.

Best Visual Effects

Nominees: Deepwater Horizon, Doctor Strange, The Jungle Book, Kubo and the Two Strings, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Will win: Jungle Book

Should win: Jungle Book

Who I want to win: Kubo and the Two Strings

*Because Laika Entertainment deserves every award  in every category that it's nominated in.

Best Adapted Screenplay

Nominees: Arrival, Fences, Hidden Figures, Lion, Moonlight

Will win: Moonlight

Should win: Moonlight

Who I want to win: Arrival

*Honestly, I don't mind if Moonlight wins; it was really well-written. It just annoys me that this could have been the only award Arrival could win.

*Screw the Academy and its technicalities.

Best Original Screenplay

Nominees: Hell or High Water, La La Land, The Lobster, Manchester by the Sea, 20th Century Women

Will win: La La Land

Should win: Honestly, Manchester by the Sea, Hell or High Water, or even Lobster deserve this more than La La Land since the script isn't what made that movie great.

Final Notes

As you can see, La La Land is poised to rake in a butt-load of awards. Remember, the Oscars aren't to be taken seriously. Following the awards race is meant to be fun and if your favorite films don't get anything, at least you've got 12 more months of waiting before you get disappointed again.
