last year when I first heard that Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt were
shooting a romantic sci-fi movie together, I thought, "This is perfect!" Those
two are basically opposite gender versions of each other and it would be fun to
see them playing off each other in their interviews as well as on camera. Lawrence
never filters her words and Pratt always comes up with witty jokes... I mean,
damn, I cannot wait! Oh, but we're talking about a movie here. Right.Â
The movie, titled Passengers, finally gets its first trailer after a long absence. In the film, Aurora (Lawrence) and Jim (Pratt) are two passengers onboard the Starship Avalon, a spaceship set to transport its human cargo to a new life on another planet. The ship won't reach its destination for 120 years, so everyone is kept in hibernation pods until they arrive.
For some reason though, Jim and Aurora's pods wake them up 90 years too early. The two attempt to discover the cause behind their pods' malfunction, falling in love with each other in the process.
The premise of leaving Earth for a new life is a bit similar to that of Wall-E and Elysium but I guess this movie will mostly focus on the romance between the two leads. We'll have to wait until December to find out.
Passengers also stars Laurence Fishburne,
Andy Garcia and Michael Sheen, and is directed by Morten Tyldum. The movie is
slated for a U.S. release on December 21, 2016.Â
